Start with the symptom

Keep the diagnosis, repair, and excluded work visible.

A useful service decision begins with what failed, how it was tested, what the written scope includes, and who handles permits, access, cleanup, and restoration.

Before a visit

Write down what changed.

  • Record when the symptom began and whether it is constant or intermittent.
  • Photograph model numbers, visible damage, error codes, and affected areas.
  • Note recent storms, renovations, appliance changes, leaks, or utility work.
  • Do not open panels, enter unsafe spaces, or defeat safety devices.
